New play development series
As a producer and director of the 2016 Play Lab at UMass Amherst, I reviewed over 200 scripts submitted by up-and-coming playwrights from across the country and helped to select the two that would be workshopped in the 2016 series. I worked with the professional playwrights in rehearsal to develop and refine their work, eventually mounting a series of staged readings presented as a part of UMass Amherst's MainStage season.
Mission
Play Lab's mission is to help develop plays with bold and fresh forms that give voice to underrepresented communities and stories. These are works that represent new voices, big ideas, and envelope-pushing modes of storytelling. Play Lab projects have continued on to further development in regional and New York theaters.
